Benchmade Presidio Auto Axis Knife Review

Posted by admin on Dec 27th 2012

The Benchmade 5300 Presidio uses the Auto AXIS® pull release system with an integrated safety.  Built to perform, the Auto AXIS system, if you have never used it before, consists of a pull bar that crosses through the handle so that it can be used by either left or right handed people.  The bar rests in an inset channel.  To open the blade, you pull the bar toward the base of the handle and the blade snaps out.  This system, is one of the most dependable auto trigger systems on the market.  For this reason alone, you could make a case for the Benchmade Presidio 5300.

But it has so much more than just that to offer.  It comes with a 154CM stainless steel blade–you can get the blade with a stonewash or black tactical finish and either plain or combo edge.  The 154CM is plenty enough blade steel to get any heavy duty job done.  I have carried a knife with 154CM for the past year and have been duly impressed.  It keeps a good edge and isn’t too onerous to resharpen when the time comes.

The 5300 series also boast a black anodized, machined 6061 T-6 aluminum handle with double 420J liners.  The handle has a solid grip machined into it that will stabilize your grip even in the worst of environmental conditions.  The handle is going to last a lifetime with proper care.

If you are looking for a high quality, mid sized automatic knife that will stand up to extremely harsh use and the very worst of environments, the 5300 Presidio is definitely a knife to consider.  Check it out and let us know what you think below.
