Marfione Custom Mini Matrix Knife Review

Marfione Custom Mini Matrix
Marfione Custom Mini Matrix

This special Custom Mini Matrix from Marfione–the owner of Microtech Knives.  It features a hand ground Tri-Tone blade that boasts a stonewash blade with satin finished flats and bead blast finished cutouts.  The flipper highlights a tritium insert.sThe handle is 6AL4-V titanium and the backstrap is torched titanium.

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of holding a Mini Matrix, it is a perfect sized flipper knife.  The blade swings out on a smooth pivot when you pull the spine flipper.  One unique feature about the actual flipper is that it has a tritium insert.  Once open, if you look in on the inside edge of the backstrap it is signed A. Marfione and it has the serial number. The outside edge of the backstrap features the Marfione Dagger Logo.  The blade is a blend between a clip point and a spear point.

The handle is extremely comfortable to hold.  A framelock design, this knife is a pleasure to hold.  A generous finger groove along with the spine profile that gives your thumb the perfect spot for maximum blade control combine to give you an excellent grip on the knife. This knife is certain to add serious class to any collection and for the brave at heart it would be an incredible daily carry knife.  An extremely limited number of these knives were produced for the 2013 Blade Show–if you would like to pick up this custom Marfione Mini Matrix you can find it here.  If you already have one, let me know what you think of yours below.

Smith & Wesson M&P Button Lock Folder Knives

Smith and Wesson Knives
Smith and Wesson Knives, Military & Police model 7TS

Just in a couple of new Smith and Wesson Knives.  Part of the Military and Police series, the 7TS and the 8BS are both manual folders.  Built tough and rugged for heavy use, they both utilize a button lock system that keeps the blade where you want it at all times.  The hefty handles are constructed of aluminum with rubber overlays that give you a nice, secure grip on the knife.

What do I love about these two knives?  First, the price point.  At under $30, these two knives are great “bang for you buck”.  Second, with over 3″ blades, you can tackle every job that life throws at you. Plus they have deep carry pocket clips which means you can carry them unobtrusively wherever you need to.

Emerson Roadhouse Knife

Emerson Roadhouse Knife

Emerson continues to knock the ball out of the park with their knives.  Each one is built for serious, heavy use.  The Roadhouse knife is no exception.  Consider the black G-10 handle scales.  Built for comfort, grip and durability, the scales have the classic Emerson texture that makes for a solid, anti slip grip.  On the spine of the handle, right close to the blade, there are several jimping ridges that give your thumb a nice, extra solid grip when you choke up on the knife for close cutting work.  The same jimping ridges can be found right where your pinkie finger sits.  All in all, the handle is built for use. An oversized finger groove gives your forefinger a comfortable seat and it keeps your hand from slipping up onto the blade during heavy cuts.  Now let’s look at the 154cm tanto blade.  Built with the patented “wave” feature, with practice you can have the blade open and ready for work as soon as it leaves your pocket.  The tanto shape makes for an extra sturdy blade that is perfect for slicing, slashing, as well as piercing cuts.  The 154cm is going to stay sharp for a long time–which means you can spend more time on the road and less time in your shop getting your knife sharp.  And to top it all off, this knife is made in the USA and carries a limited lifetime warranty.  Check out the Emerson Roadhouse–you’ll be glad you did.
